Regional theatre roles include The Defendant in David Mamet's Romance at the Mark Taper Forum, Max in Lend Me A Tenor at the Norris Theater, Prince Nikki in My One And Only (with Rachel York and Vicky Lewis), David in Company (with Judith Light and Christopher Sieber), Roger Sherman in 1776 (with Roger Rees and Orson Bean) and Max Jacobs in On the 20 th Century (with Carolee Carmello and Bob Gunton), Harry in My Fair Lady at the Hollywood Bowl (with John Lithgow and Roger Daltrey), Harlequin in Triumph of Love, Skeets Miller in Floyd Collins, Ugly in Honk, Gordon in A New Brain, Radioman Bride in Titanic, and Charley in Merrily We Roll Along. Television appearances include Caught In America, All About the Andersons, Sabrina, Everybody Loves Raymond, Seven Days, and The Larry Sanders Show. Movie-For-Television appearances include the critically acclaimed Doing Time on Maple Drive and the critically not-so-acclaimed Revenge of the Nerds III.

Richard has had co-starring roles in several feature films including The Cooler (with William H. Macy, Alec Baldwin and Paul Sorvino), the recent remake of Roger Corman's Piranha , Police Academy - Mission to Moscow and Harry Shearer's Teddy Bear's Picnic. Richard has had starring roles in the short-lived television series Freshman Dorm and the independent feature film Green Plaid Shirt. In addition to his work onstage, Richard is a theatre director and producer and is an Associate Artistic Director at West Coast Ensemble Theatre.
