Yumi hails from Rumson, NJ where she first started hanging out in the music room during recess. In high school she caught the acting bug while playing Lady Larkin in Once Upon a Mattress. Since then she has performed extensively throughout the U.S. playing such roles as Emily in Our Town (New York City - Vineyard), Liat in South Pacific (Kansas City Starlight), Philia in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (Los Angeles - East West Players), and Tuptim in the King and I (everywhere).
Upon moving to Los Angeles, Yumi launched her career in film and TV. Credits include the recurring role of Jan in Diagnosis Murder, guest star on Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, and co-star in the Disney film The New Swiss Family Robinson. You may also have spotted Yumi in national commercials including Toyota, Boeing, Radio Shack, Toys R Us, MBNA and most recently ADT with her daughter Clara. She is married to Los Angeles actor and teacher Brian Mulligan and is the mother of twins, Kieran and Clara.
